Unit 2 Library


For the purpose of this assignment I went to the National Tsing Hua University campus library. I thought to go to this library because it would definitely have books and resources in English as compared to the Hsinchu city library. My mom completed her IMBA in this university so it was cool for her to go back to her alma mater with me and see how much its changed since she graduated. To be honest I have never gone to a library here in Taiwan so it was a new experience for me as well. The library as I show in the video is a rather new construction and was really nice inside. As a visitor I had to obtain a visitor card from the reception in order to go in the library little did I know that with this card I could not lend books or take them home. I was not notified of this until I came downstairs with my book on marine ecology and the lady said in Chinese, "no you cannot take this home as a visitor". So that was a downside to this assignment because I knew part of it was to show you took it home and read it but I had time so I stayed a while in the library exploring the book I wanted to check out. After a while I started growing tired of reading so I went to explore the new library and its different floors. Some floors were strictly reading areas and study rooms others were relaxing and recreational areas. This library was quite an upgrade compared to Bird we have back in Syracuse, no offense haha. Even though I had my phone on me all this time I was quite enjoying the time I had in this library that I barely looked at my phone.  It was so modern so full of technology assistants and kiosks and pods filled with private TV rooms and a movie area. Fun fact my mom and I were curious to see if the library still had her thesis since we noticed there was a floor entirely dedicated to "NTHU Theses". And sure enough we found it!

What I Eat I love seafood so I can't live without Tilapia Scallops for hot pot. Love the dish decoration.  The black pepper beef is one of my favorites in the teppanyaki cuisine.   All set for lunch. Seafood platter one of Taiwan's greatest dishes. Reflection: I’m going to explain what "social conscience" means to me. The word conscience makes me think of what we think others perceive us to be like and what we do and the right of wrong of our given actions. From a psychological perspective, as a psychology major, I think of the word conscious as how humans have the ability to control what they do and the actions they take unlike with our subconscious. Our subconscious is an automatic response which we cannot control.
